Review by Joshua Mullin from PTToolBox

Recently I was given the opportunity to test and review the Recovapro handheld massage device, and as a relatively active person with various aches and pains I jumped at the chance.

The Recovapro was delivered three days after my order was submitted, it was sent via recorded delivery and when it arrived it was in recyclable packaging which I thought was a nice touch.

Once you’ve opened up the packaging, you’ll notice the extremely durable, smart looking carry case. For me the case is a huge bonus as I travel a lot for seminars and massaging clients and this means I can slip the Recovapro into my work bag and I don’t need to worry about it getting scuffed or broken whilst I’m on the move.

Inside the carry case you have the following;

  • Recovapro Handheld Massager
  • Bullet Head Attachment – This is suitable for trigger point releases, deep tissue work as well as around certain joints such as when massaging the elbow tendons
  • Ball Head Attachment – This attachment is used for large muscle groups such as the quadriceps or the latissimus dorsi when you have a lot of real estate to cover!
  • Fork Head Attachment – This attachment is specifically made to massage either side of the spine to target the erectors without impacting the vertebrae
  • Flat Head Attachment – The flat head attachment is designed to be used on most parts of the body but again I would probably recommend using it on large or dense muscle groups
  • Power Head Attachment – This attachment attaches onto the flat head and gives a larger, more cushioned surface to use on large muscle groups as well as being effective for deep tissue treatment
  • Power Supply
  • Four power supply adaptors for different types of plug sockets
  • User Manual

My first thoughts when picking up the unit was that it was extremely solid and well built, you can feel that it has been well produced with high quality materials and there is a nice amount of weight behind the unit in the hand. I know from experience that this can be extremely important when trying to apply pressure to an area with the device.

Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of everything contained within the carry case and to be honest I feel like Recovapro have massively overdelivered with this product at such a low price point.

At £229 it is over half the price of its main competitor, the Theragun. However, this is by no means a “cheap” alternative like the £60 Chinese rip offs you can find on Amazon.

Alongside the high quality and the low price, you also have a 90 day return policy if you’re unsatisfied for any reason and you also have a 2 year warranty to protect your device against damage and faulty parts.

Using the Recovapro

So far, I have used the Recovapro daily since it arrived, and my body is thankful! I’ve tried various muscle groups including:

  • Hands and thumbs, this was highly necessary due to the volume of massage I’ve done recently
  • Forearms (extensors and flexors), which felt amazing!
  • Tibialis anterior and calves
  • Quadriceps
  • Trapezius
  • Biceps
  • Triceps tendons

The beauty of the Recovapro is that you have the different heads for varying body parts which makes a huge difference to how you can use it but it also has five speeds so on my forearms for example (which are f**ked by the way) the highest speed setting with the bullet head was like a kiss from Jesus himself!

I can see how the Recovapro would be an excellent addition to any therapists arsenal and it would even be massively beneficial to most recreational athletes however please understand that there are certain elements of a professional sports massage that cannot be replaced however this does come close!

With that being said, if you have the budget to be able to afford a Recovapro, I would highly recommend it.
